Pajakappeli commemorative chapel

Pajakappeli was built in 1926 according to the plans of Professor Onni Tarjanne. At first, the building served as a gas plant for the Lapua cartridge factory, later as a workshop.

The 40-branched candelabra is an homage to the victims of the explosion accident that occurred in 1976. The chapel also houses the Angel Statue of Kari Ovaska, purchased with a public collection from the Nurkkakivi Cultural Association and donated to the city.

Today Pajakappeli is a beautiful place to relax. The chapel can be used for example for weddings and baptisms.
