Old Health Centre / City Office Building
Construction of the Health Centre began in 1967 and was completed within the same year. The building, located next to the Town Hall, features pillars supporting the entrance canopy and a second-floor balcony that lightens the appearance of its otherwise minimalist form.
Around the entrance hall, Aalto designed a waiting room, five consultation rooms, as well as laboratory, storage, and maintenance facilities. On the upper floor, Aalto planned apartments for the municipality’s senior officials.
In 1982, the building was converted for office use, and modifications were made to the room layout. Today, the premises are used by, among others, the South Ostrobothnia Wellbeing Services County and Kela (the Finnish Social Insurance Institution).
