Alajärvi Youth Association Building
The Youth Association Building was the first public building design by a young architecture student. The drawings are from 1919, and the building was completed in 1920.
The hipped-roof building, with its castle-like appearance, has a main hall whose height is emphasized by intersecting roof beams. This allows space for a stage on one side and an orchestra balcony on the other. Two symmetrical wings on the sides of the building were later connected by a porch-like entrance hall.
The courtyard is always open to visitors, but entry inside is only possible with guided tours.
The site is part of the Kraatterijärvi UNESCO Global Geopark.
