Seinäjoki City Office Building
Aalto completed and refined the Administrative Centre with this three-storey office building, rendered in white. He wanted to create the endpoint of the axis that begins at the church and runs across the Civic Square—a “calm backdrop building,” as Aalto is known to have described it. The building’s most architecturally significant space is the former courtroom, which today serves as a meeting room. Over the years, the office building has housed, among other things, the tax office and the police.
