Seinäjoki Parish Center

Aalto designed the church courtyard created by the Parish Centre to be an inviting, open space where outdoor events and gatherings can be held. Inside the parish hall, the warm acoustical wall panels are made of red beech, and the benches of red pine—materials echoed in the interior of the Lakeuden Risti (Cross of the Plains) Church. Rising 65 metres above the city, the church’s bell tower is one of Seinäjoki’s most recognisable landmarks. Visitors can reach the top comfortably by elevator.
