Seinäjoki City Hall
The dark blue ceramic rod tiles on the façade of Seinäjoki City Hall shimmer beautifully in different lights. “The façade must belong to Seinäjoki City Hall and to no other,” explained Alvar Aalto when justifying his choice of materials.
In the tall, tower-like council chamber, the seats of the city councillors are arranged in a radial pattern – a composition also reflected in the building’s façade. The western wing, originally designed as residential quarters, was converted into offices in the 1970s and 1980s.
Opening hours: Weekdays 9 am–3 pm
